Discharge from Marine Corps
When asked in an interview for the Entertainment Tonight, Collin Gosselin said that he was dismissed from the Marine Corps close to graduation. He said the discharge occurred after the Marines learned that he had been placed in an institution at some point in his life.
Collin said that the Marine Corps’ policy need not be in search of an ulterior motive – for it is already institutionalized. He attempted to have the decision overturned and said his only wish was to become a member of the United States Marine Corps. As for the experience, Collin said it was terrifying; he never got to see his siblings again.
Mother’s Role and Visit
He also discussed his mother Kate Gosselin, whom he mentioned had come to see him at the Marine training camp a single time. From Collin’s point of view, during this short visit, Kate expounded to him on how he had single-handedly dismantled the family. He still feels that she wanted to save her image and not to support him.
Family Background
Collin Gosselin is one of the seven children born to Kate and Jon Gosselin though the couple is currently divorce. The couple also has twin daughters, Cara and Madeonda or Madelyn depending on which source is to be trusted. They divorced in 2009 and it became a common understanding that Kate had the children. Collin was later sent to an institution because of what was described as ‘unpredictable and violent behavior at that time’ by People Magazine.
Kate’s Description of Collin Gosselin
In 2019, Kate Gosselin mentioned that Collin had “special needs.” Collin responded to this in 2022, saying it was unfortunate that Kate described him this way. He disagreed with her characterization and felt that it did not reflect who he was or how others saw him.
