Official Announcement
It was posted on the official band’s account in X, previously known as Twitter on August 9, 2024. Unfortunately, due to illness, we were unable to make it to Kansas City and St. Louis. The band was to perform in Kansas City on August 9, and St. Louis on August 10.
Refunds and Reactions
Regarding ticket refunds which is a major concern to their fans, The band also touched on in their statement. They wanted popular assurance to the fact that if people bought tickets from ticketmaster they would be given a refund if needed. But if the tickets were bought through ticket-sellers other than the event organizer, fans would have to approach the third party ticket sellers for their money back.
Blink-182 As for their message, the band was rather dramatic and concluded, “We are so sorry and hope to see you next time.
A Pattern of Cancellations
It’s not the first time Blink-182 had to cancel the performance because of health problems of one of the members. The band, which earlier in April of 2024 was to have performances in Mexico, called off the event. At that time the band’s bassist, Mark Hoppus, suffered from the acute throat infection and severe bronchitis, so the band could not perform.
Hoppus went to his Discord page to make the heartbreaking announcement through a video whereby he noted that the band had tried all the possibilities of trying to push forward the shows but could not make it. “We do not for a second take canceling lightly,” Hoppus said, “They book a flight, a hotel, make arrangements, get babysitters…” He also appreciated the support they have received from their fans and the comprehension of their situation.
Recent Performances and Reactions
Before the cancellations, Blink-182 recently performed at the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago. However, their performance received some criticism from music commentators. In response, band member Tom DeLonge took to Instagram to address one such review with a touch of humor. He posted a caption saying, “Oh my god, I’m dying hahaha f***, I love this band,” showing his light-hearted take on the situation.
