Jimin's MUSE and FACE: The Only K-pop Albums to Reach Billboard 200 Top 2

BTS’ Jimin has reached another impressive milestone in his solo career, becoming the first K-pop soloist to achieve a top 2 position on the Billboard 200 chart with two albums. His debut solo album, FACE, and his recent release, MUSE, both secured this coveted spot, marking a significant achievement in the K-pop industry.

Jimin’s Record-Breaking Billboard 200 Success

On July 28, Billboard announced that Jimin’s new solo album, MUSE, had debuted at number 2 on the Billboard 200 chart, which tracks the most popular albums in the United States. This accomplishment matches the record set by his debut album, FACE, which also reached number 2 in 2023. This dual achievement makes Jimin the first Korean solo artist to have two albums in the top 2 of the Billboard 200.

Overview of MUSE

Released on July 19, 2024, through BIGHIT MUSIC, MUSE features seven tracks. These include “Closer Than This,” the pre-release single “Smeraldo Garden Marching Band” featuring rapper Loco, and the lead single “Who,” which topped multiple iTunes charts. The album also made a strong debut in South Korea at number two and in Japan at number three.

Jimin took the lead in producing MUSE, which explores themes of genuine love and personal growth. While his debut album FACE focused on confronting one’s inner self, MUSE offers a candid look at Jimin’s experiences and inspirations. The seven tracks on MUSE are:

  1. Rebirth (Intro)
  2. Interlude: Showtime
  3. Smeraldo Garden Marching Band (feat. Loco)
  4. Slow Dance (feat. Sofia Carson)
  5. Be Mine
  6. Who
  7. Closer Than This

The album’s theme of love is introduced with “Rebirth (Intro)” and develops throughout the tracks, culminating in the powerful main track “Who.” “Who” is a hip hop R&B song characterized by powerful beats, acoustic guitar sounds, and a dynamic bounce.

Jimin’s Journey and Future Prospects

Jimin’s success with FACE and MUSE highlights his versatility and talent as a solo artist. His ability to connect with listeners through his music and personal storytelling has cemented his place in K-pop history. Fans eagerly anticipate what he will achieve next, both as a solo artist and as a member of BTS.
