Get Ingredients: You need moong dal (yellow split gram), grated coconut, green chilies, curry leaves, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, and salt.

 Cook Dal: Rinse 1 cup of moong dal and cook it with 2 cups of water until it’s soft. A pressure cooker can be used to make it quicker.

Make Coconut Paste: Blend 1 cup of grated coconut with 2 green chilies and a little water until smooth.

Add Turmeric: Mix 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder into the cooked dal and stir.

 Add Coconut Paste: Stir the coconut paste into the dal and let it cook for a few minutes.

Season Dal: Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan. Add 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds. When they pop, add 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds and a few curry leaves. Sauté for a minute.

Mix Seasoning: Pour the seasoned oil into the dal and mix well. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.

Add Salt: Add salt to taste and stir the dal.

 Serve: Serve the hot dal with rice or roti.

Garnish (Optional): Garnish with fresh coriander leaves if you like.
