Singer Peter Murphy is enrolling in a treatment facility to "attend to his health and well-being," a spokeswoman for the group stated in a statement, explaining why the dates were cancelled.

Since breaking up in 1983, the band from Northampton, England, has come together multiple times. The most recent reunion took place in 2019 for a three-show run at the Hollywood Palladium, 13 years after the group's last performance there.

They resumed touring in late 2021 after a COVID-19 pandemic hiatus and appeared at the Cruel World event in Pasadena, California in May. They then played a number of West Coast shows in May and a few European shows in June and August; their most recent performance was on August 27 in Portugal.

The North American leg of the tour was supposed to begin in Toronto on Sept. 6 and continue with performances in New York, Philadelphia, Washington (DC), Boston, New Haven (CT), Detroit, St. Paul, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, and Denver before coming to a close at Radio City Music Hall in New York on Dec. 31.
