Alia Bhatt has become one of Bollywood’s most successful actresses since her debut in 2012. She has played many different characters that have challenged her and changed her as a person. Recently, in an interview, Alia opened up about how some of her roles affected her deeply.
Alia Bhatt Reflects on Transformative Roles
In the interview with IMDb, Alia recalled her experience while filming Udta Punjab in 2016. She said that this movie was very intense, and during the shoot, she “physically and emotionally shut down from the rest of the world.” This was her first experience with method acting, where she fully immersed herself in her character.

Alia also talked about her role in Highway from 2014. She felt a significant change in herself during that film, as she spent a lot of time on the road, away from home. She compared this experience to going away to college, but instead of a school, she was on a film set.
Another important film for Alia was Gangubai Kathiawadi in 2022. Her performance in this movie won her a National Award for Best Actress. She mentioned that after working on this film, she felt she was no longer the same actor. Alia praised director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, saying that any actor directed by him comes out changed.
Looking ahead, Alia Bhatt is set to star in the upcoming film Alpha, which is part of the YRF Spy Universe. The film is directed by Shiv Rawail and produced by Aditya Chopra, featuring actress Sharvari in a key role.
