Tom Selleck Reflects on Emotional Last Day of Filming for Blue Bloods Drama

Tom Selleck, the star of the popular CBS cop drama Blue Bloods, recently shared details about his emotional last day of filming. After 14 successful seasons, saying goodbye was difficult for the cast, who had spent over a decade working together.

In an interview with TV Insider, Selleck, who played Frank Reagan, revealed that his final scene was a family dinner. He noted that this was a poetic choice, as it mirrored the first scene they filmed when the show started. “My last scene was, ironically, a family dinner,” he said. He added that the cast agreed to keep the moment special by closing the set during the filming.

When shooting wrapped up, Selleck read a poem by Edna St. Vincent Millay titled Love Is Not All. His emotional reading brought many of his co-stars to tears. “Donnie was really broken up; he didn’t say much,” Selleck recalled, describing the scene of hugging and crying among the cast.

As the series finale approaches, fans are excited to see how the story unfolds. The final season will show Frank Reagan leading the police department while continuing the family tradition of Sunday dinners with his father, Henry, who is a retired police commissioner.

Although Blue Bloods is ending, the creators are considering a spin-off series. CBS studio head David Stapf mentioned, “There’s still time to figure a spinoff out,” which keeps fans hopeful for more stories from the Blue Bloods universe.

The midseason premiere of Blue Bloods will air on October 18 on CBS.
