During the event, Shinde announced that RRP plans to invest an additional Rs 24,538 crore in the future. He highlighted that the new plant will create around 400 jobs, contributing to the local economy. “These chips are essential as the demand for smaller and faster electronic devices grows,” he said.
Fadnavis emphasized the importance of having domestic manufacturing units, especially after the supply chain disruptions experienced during the pandemic. He noted that Maharashtra is leading the way in semiconductor production with its new policy aimed at building a strong ecosystem for this industry.
RRP Electronics has a comprehensive investment plan totaling Rs 36,573 crore, including partnerships with companies in Israel and Spain. The OSAT plant marks the first step in establishing semiconductor manufacturing in Maharashtra, with plans for a chip manufacturing unit to follow.
Overall, the launch of this plant is seen as a significant step towards making India self-sufficient in semiconductor production and supporting the country’s technological advancement.
