Orphan Black: Echoes May Get Season 2
Talking with TVLine Fishko said that currently there are discussions being made on the prospect of having the second season for the show. As for the chances of a second season, she said the following statement: “We’re actually looking forward to it, it is under discussion with AMC at the moment.”
The series takes place in 2052 and focuses on Kira solving a new crime where a woman has lost her memory. The story of the series focuses on themes such as science control and interpersonal connections which definitely stands it as an interesting show for fans of sci-fi shows.
Fishko also asked why did not Tatiana Maslany, who was the leading character in the original Orphan Black series, did not participate in the Orphan Black spin-off. Originally, there were ideas for Maslany to return as one of the Leda clones in the first season. Fishko revealed that they originally intended to dedicate an entire episode to Maslany but she was unavailable due to issues with her timetable. Maslany was preoccupied with other ventures during that time.
However, Fishko still holds some optimism about the showery that Salary will be part of in a second season. During the interview, she shows a wish to bring back Maslany and maybe other clone characters from the original series in case the show is reordered. To Fishko’s mind, it would be great and would contribute to the plot line if familiar faces return to the show.
The first season of Orphan Black: Several episodes of Echoes had cliffhangers, suggesting a second season may be in the works. Some of the main issues revolve around the growing tension between the sisters, Eleanor and Kira as well as the daring suicide of Jules. These hanging threads make it seem that a second season would be capable of answering these questions, and build on the characters as well.
While the original Orphan Black series received critical acclaim with a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the spin-off has a lower rating of 60%. Despite this, the show has built a dedicated fan base and the potential for further story development remains strong.
AMC has yet to officially approve the second season, but the positive updates from Fishko indicate that there is hope for the show’s future. Fans of Orphan Black: Echoes will be eagerly awaiting confirmation of the renewal and the continuation of the story.
