Both the distinctive visuals and the acting are best described as humorous and grim, therefore the movie belongs to the classic cinematography.

2. Edward Scissorhands (1990)

In the movie based on the fairy-tale “Edward Scissorhands”, Johnny Depp as Edward, an artificial man, whose hands are scissors. In terms of theme, the film concerns outcasting and integration as Edward tries to come to terms with being an outsider. One can easily observe that Burton has applied his visual signature which contributes to the creation of the fairy-tale-like atmosphere that makes this film both visually beautiful and rather engaging on the emotional level.

3. Batman (1989)

Burton’s “Batman” returns the viewers to the dark, gothically-tinged atmosphere of comics. 4. Sleepy Hollow (1999)

“Sleepy Hollow”, is one of the movies that demonstrate that Tim Burton has a creative interpretation of the famous story written by Washington Irving about the Headless Horseman. Featuring Johnny Depp as the protagonist, Ichabod Crane, a detective who is assigned to investigate the murder mystery, the movie is an ideal good example of gothic movies due to its feeling and descriptions. In this film, Burton was very successful in portraying both gothic and beautiful at the same time.

5. Corpse Bride (2005)

“Corpse Bride” is one of the stop-motion animated movies, where the primary and secondary plot lines are based on the elements of gloom and despair, yet the main idea and the character’s interactions and relationships are inspired by the fairy tale motifs. It is a story of the young man by the name Victor who finds himself in a wedding ceremony with a dead woman only to make it real by saying his wedding vows. The style of Burton is once again brought to life and coupled with the stunning animations that are in the film.

6. Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007)

Sweeney Todd is a dark musical where Johnny Depp plays Sweeney Todd, a barber who wants revenge against the people who have wronged him. It is a rather gory yet very intriguing movie directed by Tim Burton based on the Broadway musical with incredible and creepy Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter. It also makes viewers know that Burton has the way to handle two complicated typewriters of movies, that is horror and music.

7. Big Fish (2003)

“Big Fish” is an emotional movie that shows a man who wants to spend time with his dying father but the father is a man who used to tell tall tales. The film departs from the usual dark theme that Burton has been associated with for most of his works; what is King Solomon wrong with being a part of this bright and colorful world of fairy tales and legendary tales, and the relation of a father and a young boy.

8. Mars Attacks! (1996)

The film “Mars Attacks!” can be seen as the parody of an ohan invasion film with elements of humor and absurdity. The film stars Jack Nicholson, Glenn Close and Pierce Brosnan to mention but a few. Despite being the comedy genre, “Mars Attacks!” stands out uniquely in the filmography of Tim Burton due his correctly composed blend of comedy with aspects of sci-Fi.

9. Alice in Wonderland (2010)

Burton’s “Alice in the Wonderland” is a darker version of the fairy-tale and it has a kind of surreal performance. Featuring Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, and Mia Wasikowska as Alice, the movie is rich in fine colors and intended environments. Although the film was not received well, it is still a perfect reflection of Burton’s sense of aesthetics.

10. Big Eyes (2014)

The film, ‘Big Eyes’ is about art and tells the real life story of Margaret Keane, who was an artist and was driven to obscurity by her husband who passed his paintings as hers in the 1960s. The appearance of events differs from Burton’s usual gloomy pictures and is more based on the true story of Keane’s fight for attention. Thanks Amy Adams who was sensational as Keane to make a great story out of it in the “Big Eyes.”
