Abby Lee Miller, best known for her role on the reality TV show “Dance Moms,” has had a challenging few years but is forging a new path. After her time on “Dance Moms,” Miller faced serious setbacks but is now focusing on new projects and overcoming health struggles.
From Dance Moms to Legal Troubles
Miller rose to prominence as the choreographer in the reality show ‘Dance Moms’, with the talents such as Maddie Ziegler and Jojo Siwa. However, she suffered a setback in her career in 2017 after she was convicted of bank fraud. She had spent one year in prison and, when she was released, she was discovered to have cancer; she now uses a wheelchair.

Post-Prison and Cancer Recovery
When Abby Lee Miller got out of prison and defeated cancer, she wanted to continue working. She first concentrated on her dance studio in Pittsburgh, where “Dance Moms” was filmed In early 2023, she sold the studio which was in the process of being turned into a daycare center.
These and other factors have not stopped Miller from engaging himself in several new projects. She teased about a new show that would be a spin-off of “Dance Moms” that incorporates older-students as well as young students with their mothers. This new show does not have a network as yet and is an attempt to capture the drama of her previous series.
In June 2023, Miller came out with a podcast titled Leave It On The Dance Floor. In the podcast, she talks about “Dance Moms”, her career and other dance reality shows which includes dancing with the stars.
About Abby Lee Miller Teaching and Appearances
Abby Lee Miller still teaches dance. In 2015, she established another Abby Lee Dance Company studio in Los Angeles, whereby she teaches students for the competition and through online classes via zoom meeting. She also offers Masterclass learning courses as well as conducts Meet and Greet sessions across the globe.
In October 2023 she was featured on the E! reality show House of Villains in which she was a contestant for a cash amount and the title of the America’s Ultimate Supervillain.
Health and Personal Life
Physical health has been a major concern of Miller. Later in life, she was also inflicted with cancer and had to undergo treatment, after having served her prison time. She was diagnosed with Burkitt lymphoma in 2018 and this was followed by an emergency operation that reduced her mobility to wheelchair use. By 2019, she had regained her health from cancer disease but was still scarcely mobile.
Abby Lee Miller has distanced herself from “Dance Moms” and did not appear in the recent special, Dance Moms: The Reunion. Her last season on the show, Season 8, was marked by her physical limitations and struggles.
