The upcoming Tamil film Kara is already creating interest, and now a new detail about its casting has caught attention. Director Vignesh Raja recently shared that the film had a very different plan in the beginning. Before Dhanush came on board, actor Prithviraj Sukumaran was approached for an important role. This reveal gives a fresh perspective on how the film evolved during its early stages.
Why Prithviraj Sukumaran Didn’t Take the Role
Vignesh Raja explained that Prithviraj Sukumaran showed interest after watching his earlier work. The director even narrated a key character to him. However, Prithviraj felt that the role was not strong enough at that stage.
He believed the character lacked depth and seemed a bit one-dimensional. Even though he was confident that the film would succeed, he chose not to take up the role. Later, when the same character was offered to others, they also shared similar feedback.
This led Vignesh Raja to rethink and improve the character before finalising the casting.
Kara Story and Setting
Kara is set in the early 1990s, a time of global tension and uncertainty. The story follows a man named Karasamy, who is forced to leave parts of his past behind but eventually has to face them again.

As he moves forward, he becomes a protector for people who depend on him. The film mixes personal struggles with larger events happening around the world. It also includes elements linked to the Gulf War, showing how global conflicts can affect ordinary lives. The story promises an emotional journey along with action and suspense.
Kara Star Cast and Technical Team
After reworking the script, the team brought in Suraj Venjaramoodu for the revised role. Along with Dhanush in the lead, the film features Mamitha Baiju as the female lead.
The supporting cast includes experienced actors like KS Ravikumar, Karunaas, and Jayaram. The music is composed by GV Prakash Kumar, which adds to the film’s overall mood and energy.
Upcoming Projects of Dhanush and Prithviraj Sukumaran
Dhanush has a busy schedule ahead with another project currently titled D56, which is expected to be a spy action film. On the other hand, Prithviraj Sukumaran is preparing for multiple films, including a heist drama and other big projects.
