The political drama Sankalp has started streaming on Amazon MX Player from March 11. Directed by Prakash Jha, the series marks Nana Patekar’s debut on OTT platforms. The show brings together a strong cast including Sanjay Kapoor, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayub, Neeraj Kabi, and Meghna Malik.
Sankalp is presented as a political thriller with a story that mixes power, loyalty, and rivalry. The series runs across ten episodes, and the narrative focuses on a mentor whose influence spreads through powerful students placed in government positions.
Nana Patekar Plays Teacher Kanhaiya Lal in Sankalp
At the center of Sankalp is Kanhaiya Lal, played by Nana Patekar. He is shown as a respected schoolteacher who runs a small gurukul in Patna. Most of his students come from modest backgrounds, and he personally guides them in their education.
Along with the gurukul, Kanhaiya Lal also operates a UPSC coaching center in Delhi. Over the years, many of his students have cleared civil service exams and become IAS, IPS, and IRS officers. Even after achieving powerful positions, they remain loyal to their mentor, whom they still call Master Sahab.
This strong bond between the teacher and his former students becomes an important part of the story in Sankalp.
Political Conflict Begins in Sankalp
The main conflict in Sankalp begins when a young vlogger named Jayanti attends an event organized by the son of Delhi Chief Minister Prashant Singh, played by Sanjay Kapoor.
Her questions make the chief minister uncomfortable in front of the media. The situation becomes worse when his son reacts angrily and uses abusive language.
As the political leaders begin investigating the situation, they discover that Jayanti receives support from an NGO in Patna linked to Kanhaiya Lal’s network. From here, the story slowly turns into a larger political battle involving powerful officials and hidden strategies.
Another important moment occurs when IPS officer Aditya, played by Mohammed Zeeshan Ayub, unexpectedly fires his gun during Kanhaiya Lal’s birthday celebration. This event pushes the story into a darker direction.
Strong Performances in Sankalp
One of the strongest aspects of Sankalp is the performances by the cast. Nana Patekar brings authority and calm intensity to the role of Kanhaiya Lal. His presence adds weight to many scenes.
Mohammed Zeeshan Ayub appears convincing as IPS officer Aditya, a character who eventually faces a conflict between loyalty and duty.

Neeraj Kabi, playing party president Waqar, adds another layer of tension with his controlled and serious performance. Sanjay Kapoor also fits well as Delhi Chief Minister Prashant Singh.
Meghna Malik, who plays Suhasini, brings a quiet yet sharp personality to her role in the story.
Sankalp Moves Fast but Lacks Depth
The story of Sankalp moves quickly from one event to another, keeping the tension alive through several twists. However, the narrative sometimes feels less detailed than expected.
The idea of a teacher controlling a powerful network of bureaucrats across the country is interesting, but the show does not always explore this idea deeply. Some plot developments appear suddenly and are not fully explained. Despite this, the performances and steady pace keep Sankalp engaging for viewers who enjoy political dramas.
