“The Kerala Story 2” Producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah Breaks Silence After High Court Lifts Interim Stay

“The Kerala Story 2” Producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah Breaks Silence After High Court Lifts Interim Stay

After weeks of uncertainty, the Kerala High Court has lifted the interim stay on the release of The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond. Producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah addressed the media following the verdict and shared details about the court proceedings and certification process.

High Court Verdict and CBFC Certification

The Division Bench, consisting of Justices SA Dharmadhikar and PV Balakrishnan, overturned the earlier stay imposed by a single-judge bench. The previous order had temporarily blocked the film’s release while challenging the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) certificate and ordered re-examination.

Vipul Shah clarified that the CBFC certification process was thoroughly reviewed. An eight-member committee, including two social workers from Kerala and an expert professor from Delhi on socio-political subjects, re-examined the film. After their feedback, the U/A certificate was confirmed. The court found the certification valid and cleared the film for release.

Speaking at a press conference in Mumbai, Shah expressed relief and satisfaction. He said, “Now, there is no point in further discussion following the High Court’s order. The honorable judges did not find any shortcomings in the functioning of the CBFC.”

He added that the committee included experts to ensure no misrepresentation of Kerala in the film. The panel’s feedback played a crucial role in confirming the certification, and the Division Bench acknowledged this in its judgment.

About ‘The Kerala Story 2’

Directed by Kamakhya Narayan Singh, The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond stars Ulka Gupta, Aditi Bhatia, and Aishwarya Ojha in leading roles. The film was originally scheduled to release on February 27, 2026, but the stay delayed the premiere.
