Actor-politician Vijay’s wife, Sangeetha Vijay, has filed for divorce in the District Court at Chengalpattu. The petition seeks dissolution of their marriage under the Special Marriage Act, 1954. Sangeetha, 48, mentioned in her plea that the couple first registered their marriage in the United Kingdom on July 10, 1998. Later, they had a traditional wedding ceremony on August 25, 1999, at Rajah Muthiah Mandram in Egmore, Chennai, following Hindu customs and rituals.
The petition describes the early years of their marriage as peaceful and happy. Sangeetha stated that she focused on managing the home and raising their children during this period. The couple has two children together.
