Businessman Raj Kundra, husband of actor Shilpa Shetty, appeared before a Mumbai special court after being summoned in a money laundering case linked to the GainBitcoin cryptocurrency scam. The case is being investigated under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) recently filed a supplementary chargesheet in the matter. Following this, the court issued summons to Raj Kundra and another accused in the case.
Raj Kundra Greets Paparazzi Outside Court
Raj Kundra was seen arriving at the court with his lawyer. Dressed in a simple grey T-shirt and black pants, he briefly acknowledged the media gathered outside. He greeted the paparazzi with a smile before heading inside for the hearing.
His calm appearance stood out, especially considering the serious nature of the allegations against him.
What Is The GainBitcoin Cryptocurrency Case?
The case is connected to the GainBitcoin cryptocurrency investment scheme, which allegedly promised high returns through Bitcoin mining. The scheme is accused of cheating thousands of investors across India.
Authorities have stated that the operation was run by Amit Bhardwaj, who is now deceased. The scheme allegedly attracted investors with promises of large profits that never materialised.

The ED claims that Raj Kundra received 285 Bitcoins, which were allegedly part of the proceeds of crime. During the agency’s evaluation, the value of these Bitcoins was estimated at over ₹150 crore.
Allegations Of Property Deal Under Scanner
The chargesheet also mentions a property deal involving five flats in Juhu, Mumbai. These flats were reportedly registered in Shilpa Shetty’s name and were allegedly sold at a price lower than market value. Investigators suspect that this transaction could be linked to money laundering activities.
The special court has observed that a prima facie case has been made out to proceed against Raj Kundra and another accused in the matter.
Raj Kundra Denies All Allegations
Raj Kundra has denied all allegations related to the case. In an earlier statement, he rejected claims of a ₹60 crore fraud involving him and Shilpa Shetty. He stated that the accusations are baseless and have been wrongly given a criminal angle.
He has also filed a quashing petition before the High Court, which is currently pending.
The case continues to unfold, and further hearings are expected in the coming days. For now, Raj Kundra’s court appearance marks another key development in the ongoing money laundering investigation.
