Shahid Kapoor’s new film O’Romeo has made a decent start at the Indian box office. The romantic-action drama, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, collected around Rs 8.25 crore net on its opening day. While the numbers are not massive, the film has performed better than many of Shahid’s recent releases.
The film recorded an overall occupancy of 14.86% in theatres on Friday. This shows that the movie has managed to pull in audiences steadily, especially considering the competitive box office space.
Better Opening Than Deva, Jersey And TBMAUJ
When compared to Shahid Kapoor’s previous films, O’Romeo has opened higher. Deva had earned Rs 5.50 crore on its first day. Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya collected Rs 6.70 crore, while Jersey had opened at Rs 3.2 crore.
With Rs 8.25 crore on Day 1, O’Romeo stands among Shahid’s stronger recent openings. Though it is not his biggest opener overall, it shows a positive trend and gives the film a good base for the weekend.
Strong Star Cast And Big Production Backing
Apart from Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri, the film features Nana Patekar, Avinash Tiwary, Vikrant Massey and Tamannaah Bhatia in important roles. The film is backed by Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, adding to its scale and reach.
