Bhumi Pednekar Explains Adding Satish to Name, Shares How Imran Khan’s Comeback Film Helped Her Heal

Bollywood actress Bhumi Pednekar recently shared insights about her career, personal growth, and upcoming projects in an exclusive interview. The actress revealed why she took a 10-month break after Netflix India’s The Royals and how her latest work, the Prime Video India crime thriller Daldal, helped her regain energy and confidence as an actor.

Taking a Break to Reconnect

Bhumi explained that after completing 25 films and shows, she felt creatively and emotionally depleted. “I wanted to improve as a performer and reconnect with my human side. I traveled, did workshops, and took time to reflect,” she said. She added that stepping back allowed her to gain perspective and return to acting with renewed energy.

The break was not about avoiding criticism but about personal growth. “I just became kinder to myself. Doing Daldal was healing because it reminded me that artists need a strong support system to thrive,” she explained.

Embracing Challenging Roles

In Daldal, Bhumi Pednekar plays a complex character in a slow-burning thriller. She, along with co-stars Aditya Rawal and Samara Tijori, enjoys exploring emotionally challenging roles rather than taking safe, predictable paths. Aditya shared, “I invest in projects where the story, character, and script resonate. Challenging roles give satisfaction that’s unmatched.” Samara added that she gravitates toward characters that allow her to express herself deeply.

Learning From Industry Mentors

Directors Suresh Triveni and Amrit Raj Gupta, known for films like Tumhari Sulu and Gullak, discussed their shift to the crime thriller genre. Suresh said that experimenting with new genres keeps storytellers and actors alert and motivated. Amrit noted that working on Daldal was a learning experience, describing Suresh as a “second school” for understanding storytelling and character development.

Honoring Personal Connections

Bhumi Pednekar also revealed why she added her father’s name, Satish, to her professional identity. She described it as part of her personal healing process and a meaningful way to honor her family. “It felt like the right time. I wanted to acknowledge him as part of my journey,” she shared.

Bhumi also spoke about working with Imran Khan in his comeback film, describing it as liberating. She expressed hope for more women-led films in Bollywood, highlighting the importance of audience support in bringing such projects to theatres.

With Daldal and other upcoming projects, Bhumi Pednekar continues to challenge herself creatively while staying grounded in personal growth and artistic exploration.
