YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani recently faced criticism after a video from his Italy trip went viral. In the clip, he was seen on a speedboat making remarks about an Italian man, which many found offensive and culturally insensitive. The video sparked backlash online, particularly from fellow influencer Rajat (@ouramericandream.vlogs), who publicly questioned Ashish’s behavior while abroad.
Ashish Chanchlani Issues Clarification
Responding to the criticism, Ashish Chanchlani clarified that the video was fully scripted and shot with the consent of everyone involved. He said, “You’ll be surprised the guy even knew what I was talking about and we also joked about it later. The girl in this video was from my Italy team, and she had a lot of fun while we shot for this.” Despite this, he acknowledged that the clip could be perceived negatively and apologised, stating, “I understand that this video comes across as promoting unruly behavior publicly, so I apologize and have taken it down.”

Video Deleted Amid Backlash
After facing widespread criticism, Ashish deleted the controversial video from all his social media platforms. Apart from the comment clarification, he has not issued a separate video or public statement. This incident highlights the sensitivity required when creating content abroad and the potential for misunderstandings despite scripted intentions.
Influencer Responsibility
The backlash has reignited discussions about the responsibility of influencers. Rajat, who called out Ashish Chanchlani , said, “18 million followers hain iss bande ke, aur yeh harkat kar raha hai bahar jaakar. Socho, iske followers bhi kya kahenge, jab woh bhi India chhodkar bahar jayenge, toh kya woh bhi aisi harkatein karenge?” He also questioned Ashish’s claim of taking consent, demanding proof of it.
This incident serves as a reminder that content creators must carefully consider how their videos can be perceived, especially across cultures. Even scripted content can be misunderstood, and accountability plays an important role in maintaining credibility with viewers.
