Former Kannada TV actress Kavya Gowda has made shocking allegations against her family, claiming that she and her husband were physically attacked during a dispute at their home. The incident reportedly took place on January 26, 2026, in a joint family setup in Bangalore.
Details of the Kannada Actress Kavya Gowda Alleged Assault
Kavya, who is 33 years old and also works as a jewellery designer and social media influencer, lives with her husband Somasekhar and their two-year-old daughter on the second floor of the family home. Her husband’s relatives, including his brother Nandish, sister-in-law Prema, and other family members, live on the lower floors.
During a verbal argument, Kavya alleges that Prema slapped her minor daughter. When Kavya intervened, she claims she was verbally abused and physically threatened. Kavya further accused Priya, Prema’s sister, of assaulting her, and her father-in-law Ravi Kumar allegedly attacked her husband with a wooden stick and stabbed him on his shoulder. Kavya also claimed that Ravi Kumar threatened her with death and sexual violence, while Nandish allegedly pulled her hair. Kavya’s sister Bhavya, who came to the scene later, was also reportedly threatened.

Police Action and Complaints
Following Kavya’s complaint, the Ramamurthy Nagar police registered a case against Ravi Kumar, Prema, Nandish, and Priya under various sections, including assault, criminal intimidation, sexual threats, and attempt to murder. Medical attention was provided to Kavya Gowda, Somasekhar, and Bhavya at a private hospital.
However, police confirmed that a counter-complaint has also been filed by Nandish and his family, alleging that Kavya physically and verbally abused them. Authorities are currently investigating both complaints, examining medical records, and taking statements from all involved parties.

Family Dispute Over Property
Prema, Kavya’s sister-in-law, said that the argument was rooted in a property dispute. She claimed that Kavya wants to take full control of the house and has been creating unnecessary conflict. “We live together in a joint family. Kavya wants the house for herself and is causing issues. She created a ruckus yesterday and wants us to leave,” Prema said.
Kavya’s Response
Kavya Gowda, however, strongly denied the property allegations and stated that she would pursue legal action. “An FIR has been registered. I am not scared because I know the law is on my side. They attacked my child, and as a mother, I have to protect her. I have been independent and will continue to be,” she said.
Police are continuing their investigation, reviewing all complaints and evidence. Both sides have been asked to cooperate with the authorities as the case unfolds.
This incident has drawn attention because of Kavya’s prominence as a former Kannada actress and social media influencer, and it highlights the complexities that can arise in joint family arrangements.
