Well-known Odia music composer and singer Abhijit Majumdar passed away on January 25, 2026, at the age of 54. He breathed his last at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, where he had been undergoing treatment for several serious health issues for many months. His death has left the Odia film and music industry in deep shock.
Abhijit Majumdar was one of the most respected names in Ollywood. For over three decades, his music shaped the sound of Odia cinema and connected deeply with audiences across Odisha.
Health Struggles and Final Moments
Majumdar was admitted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar in September last year in a critical condition. He was suffering from a complex neurological disorder along with pneumonia and multiple other medical complications. Doctors treated him in the Medical ICU for a long period.
By November, his condition had shown improvement, and he was shifted to a regular ward. He was conscious, responding to basic commands, and doctors were preparing him for discharge. However, due to personal reasons, he continued to stay in the hospital.
On January 23, his health suddenly worsened after he developed a fresh infection. Despite intensive treatment, his condition declined rapidly. He suffered a cardiac arrest on Sunday morning. Medical teams tried their best to revive him, but he was declared dead at 9:02 am.

Journey From Sambalpuri Music to Ollywood Stardom
Born on September 11, 1971, in Cuttack, Odisha, Abhijit Majumdar began his music career in 1991. His early work in Sambalpuri music earned him recognition for his soulful melodies and emotional depth.
In 2000, he entered mainstream Odia cinema with the film Kasia Kapila. From there, his career only grew stronger. Over the years, he composed music for more than 700 films, albums, and independent projects, making him one of the most productive composers in the industry.
