Rahu Ketu Box Office Collection: Pulkit Samrat and Varun Sharma’s Comedy Flop Struggles to Recover Budget

The comedy drama Rahu Ketu, starring Pulkit Samrat and Varun Sharma, has struggled at the Indian box office. Released recently, the film wrapped up its first week with a total collection of Rs. 5.50 crore net, a disappointing figure considering the cast and promotional efforts.

Directed by Vipul Vig, Rahu Ketu features the popular Fukrey duo, Pulkit Samrat and Varun Sharma, in a story full of quirky twists and comedy. However, the audience response has been lukewarm, and the movie is on the verge of ending its theatrical run.

 Rahu Ketu Movie Review

Rahu Ketu follows two funny characters born from a magical notebook written by Churu Lal. Their journey revolves around retrieving the notebook from the crafty Meenu Taxi. The film’s ensemble cast includes Shalini Pandey, Chunky Pandey, Piyush Mishra, Manu Rishi Chadha, Amit Sial, and Sumit Gulati.

The movie had a budget of around Rs. 10 crore, but with low audience turnout, it is unlikely to recover its production costs in theatres. At present, the film’s total net collection is Rs. 5.50 crore, making it a box office flop.

The film opened at Rs. 0.90 crore and saw minor fluctuations during the week, slipping to just Rs. 0.30 crore on Day 7. Despite performing slightly better than rival films like Happy Patel: Khatarnaak Jasoos and One Two Cha Cha Chaa, it failed to generate significant growth.

Cast and Story Appeal

Despite the star cast, Rahu Ketu struggled to hold audience attention. The concept of a magical notebook and comedic adventure had potential, but the execution did not resonate well with moviegoers.

The movie’s supporting actors, including Shalini Pandey and Chunky Pandey, added charm and experience, but the film lacked strong promotional traction and audience pull. Critics have suggested that better marketing could have helped the film perform better at the box office.

Competition with Border 2

Rahu Ketu’s release coincided with Border 2, a mass action drama starring Sunny Deol, which attracted large crowds. While Rahu Ketu fared slightly better than some small releases, it struggled against a big-budget blockbuster with high public demand.

With its first-week total of Rs. 5.50 crore, the film is nearing the end of its theatrical run. Its final collection is projected to be around Rs. 5.75–6 crore, indicating that it will be classified as a box office flop.

Why the Film Struggled

Rahu Ketu struggled due to multiple reasons, weak promotion and low audience interest beyond the main cast. Competition from Border 2, which appeals to a larger mass audience. The comedy and fantasy elements, though creative, didn’t connect widely with viewers. While Pulkit Samrat and Varun Sharma have previously delivered hits with Fukrey, Rahu Ketu shows that even popular actors cannot guarantee box office success without a strong storyline or audience engagement.
