The premiere of the K-drama No Tail to Tell on SBS started with low ratings. The first episode scored 3.7%, and the Friday-Saturday slot dropped to 2.7%. The drama marks actress Kim Hye Yoon’s comeback after Lovely Runner and stars Lomon as the male lead. The story follows Eun Ho, a gumiho (nine-tailed fox) who does not want to become human. Her life changes when she meets Kang Si Yeol, a struggling soccer player with big dreams despite his poverty. Although many dramas feature nine-tailed foxes, fans were still hopeful, but the ratings fell lower than expected.
No Tail to Tell Premiere Hits Lowest K-Drama Ratings
Part of the reason for the low ratings is strong ctompetition from other dramas. On MBC, The Judge Returns starring Ji Sung has been performing very well. The drama’s premiere started at 4.3% but has quickly risen to 10% and 11%. The story is about a murdered judge who gets a second chance to fix his life. Its interesting plot and Ji Sung’s strong performance make it very popular and difficult for other shows to compete.
Other dramas are also capturing audience attention. Netflix released Can This Love Be Translated?, starring Kim Seon Ho and Go Youn Jung. The show tells the story of a top global star and her polyglot interpreter. Even though the story may sound simple, fans are excited because it is written by the famous Hong Sisters. All episodes were released at once, giving viewers the option to binge-watch the series.
Weekend dramas are adding to the crowded competition. To My Beloved Thief, starring Nam Ji Hyun and Moon Sang Min, follows a female Hong Gil Dong who falls in love with a prince. The show has been growing in popularity, rising from 4.3% to 7% on KBS. Another drama, Undercover Miss Hong on tvN, stars Park Shin Hye as a 30-year-old woman who pretends to be a 20-year-old rookie to investigate a case. Its premiere scored 3.5%, adding more choices for viewers.

With so many dramas airing at the same time, No Tail to Tell faces tough competition. Despite a promising story and a strong cast, it struggled to attract high ratings. Fans of Kim Hye Yoon and Lomon are still supporting the show, but it will need more interesting episodes to grow its audience and compete with other popular dramas this weekend.
