Actor Kiefer Sutherland, best known for his role as Jack Bauer in the hit TV show 24, was arrested in Hollywood on Monday, January 12, 2026, following a dispute with an Uber driver. According to sources, Sutherland repeatedly asked the driver to pull over, but the driver refused. This disagreement escalated, leading the driver to call the police and claim he had been threatened.
Kiefer Sutherland Arrested After Hollywood Uber Driver Dispute
Police arrived near Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue and arrested Sutherland on suspicion of making criminal threats. He was booked for a felony but not for physical assault, as the driver did not sustain injuries that required medical treatment. Law enforcement used a language translator during the investigation, as the driver’s understanding of English could be relevant to the case. Sutherland, aged 59, was later released on $50,000 bail, and his first court date is scheduled for February 2, 2026.
According to reports, the Uber driver alleged that Sutherland threatened to kill him if he did not pull over. The driver also claimed that Sutherland assaulted him with his hands, though police confirmed that no serious injuries occurred. At this time, Sutherland is only facing charges related to the alleged criminal threats, and no physical assault charges were filed.
This incident is not Sutherland’s first run-in with law enforcement. In 2007, he was charged with DUI, pleaded no contest, and was sentenced to 48 days in jail. Later, in 2009, he faced misdemeanor assault charges in New York for allegedly head-butting fashion designer Jack McCollough. That case was eventually dropped after Sutherland and McCollough issued a joint statement expressing regret over the incident.

Sutherland’s arrest has quickly drawn media attention due to his high profile in Hollywood. Fans of the actor are closely watching updates about the case, which highlights both the challenges celebrities can face in public situations and the legal consequences of disputes. The outcome of his court hearing in February will determine whether prosecutors will formally file felony charges.
