Rapper Fetty Wap has been released from prison earlier than expected after serving more than three years of his six-year sentence. The 34-year-old artist, whose real name is Willie Junior Maxwell II, was released on Thursday, January 8, from FCI Sandstone, a low-security federal prison in Minnesota. He is best known for his hit song “Trap Queen,” which made him a global music star. His early release has drawn attention from fans and the music industry alike.
Fetty Wap Released Early After Serving 3 Years in Prison
Fetty Wap was arrested in connection with a large drug trafficking case and later pleaded guilty in August 2022 to conspiracy to distribute and possess controlled substances. In May 2023, he was sentenced to six years in prison. According to reports, he served over three years before being transferred to home confinement in Philadelphia. The Bureau of Prisons confirmed that he will remain under supervision until November 8, after which he is expected to be fully released from custody.
After his release, Fetty Wap shared a short but emotional message on his Instagram Stories, simply writing “HOME.” He also released a statement thanking his family, friends, and fans for their prayers and support during his difficult time. He said the love he received meant a lot to him and helped him stay strong while he was incarcerated.
The rapper also spoke about his plans for the future. He said his main focus now is giving back to the community through his foundation. Fetty Wap wants to help at-risk children by improving access to education, early technology skills, and vision care. He shared that he wants young students to have better opportunities so they can grow and succeed in life.
