A major K-pop concert is set to take place in Hong Kong in February 2026, and for the first time in years, it will be broadcast in mainland China. The event, called Dream Concert 2026, will be held at Kai Tak Sports Park over two days starting February 6. The recordings of the concert will be shown on China’s state-run Hunan Television, marking a possible new chapter in cultural exchanges between South Korea and China.
K-pop Dream Concert 2026 Coming to Hong Kong
This concert comes after a long period of restrictions on Korean pop culture in China. The unofficial ban started in 2017 after China protested the deployment of a U.S. missile defense system in South Korea. Since then, Chinese authorities have not approved Korean concerts, TV shows, or other entertainment programs. This limited the exposure of K-pop and Korean culture to Chinese audiences for nearly a decade.

The timing of the Dream Concert follows a recent visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping to South Korea. Xi held a summit with South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, where they discussed strengthening cultural exchanges. Fans hope that this concert may be the start of more cooperation in music, TV, and other cultural projects between the two countries. The South Korean government is also planning a visit to China early next year to continue these discussions.
Although no official list of performing K-pop groups has been released, the news has already boosted the stock market for South Korean entertainment companies. Shares of HYBE, SM Entertainment, JYP Entertainment, and YG Entertainment all saw noticeable increases. This shows the global influence of K-pop and how even announcements of concerts can impact the industry financially.

Dream Concert is a well-known K-pop event organized by the Korea Entertainment Producer’s Association. The concert was held this year in Abu Dhabi after plans for China and Hong Kong were initially canceled. Alongside Dream Concert, South Korean companies like CJ ENM continue to promote K-pop internationally through events like the MAMA Awards. The Hong Kong concert is expected to attract fans from across Asia and may signal a new era for Korean pop music in China.
