Sigourney Weaver, who is 76 years old, plays Kiri, a teenage Na’vi girl in the movie. Jack Champion, now 21, plays Spider, a human teenager living on Pandora. Although the characters are close in age in the story, Weaver explained that she never actually kissed Champion during filming. At the time the scenes were shot, Champion was only 14 or 15 years old, and the production made sure to respect appropriate boundaries.

In an interview, Weaver said the filmmakers were very cautious because the scene involved a kiss. She explained that director James Cameron made special arrangements so the moment could be filmed safely and respectfully.
