On December 18, Chiang posted on Facebook, “Yama refused to take me,” which led to a wave of messages from supporters wishing him well. He later reassured everyone that his condition had stabilised and that he was recovering at home. His sister, well-known singer Linda Long Qian-yu, also commented to comfort fans, saying, “He’s fine, thank you for your concern.”

Chiang’s health issues began shortly after attending a press conference on December 16 for Long’s “Men’s Feelings, Women’s Hearts” tour, where he appeared with his mother. Two days later, his condition suddenly worsened. Chiang explained that he had likely suffered food poisoning after drinking alcohol and eating without caution at home. He was taken to the hospital in an unconscious state and underwent an emergency gastric lavage, remaining under medical care for more than 20 hours.

The singer shared that he could only drink water after the procedure and could not recall how he arrived at or left the hospital. Fans were relieved to hear that Chiang was now stable and recuperating safely at home. The incident reminded everyone of the importance of careful eating habits, especially for those with prior health concerns.
Chiang has a long history of gastro-oesophageal problems. Six years ago, he experienced severe discomfort and difficulty controlling his voice while performing. Three years ago, a routine health check revealed a serious oesophageal issue. A gastroscopy and urgent biopsy confirmed stage 0 oesophageal cancer. Thanks to timely treatment, Chiang has been on the path to recovery and has been closely following his doctors’ advice, including reducing social activities.
