For this role, Ngai transformed both physically and mentally. He cycled in the mornings, lifted weights at night, and maintained a strict diet by avoiding food after 6 pm. His character, an assassin, smokes and swears on screen, which is very different from Ngai’s clean-cut image. To prepare, he studied classic films like The Godfather and watched people on the street to capture realistic mannerisms. He also kept the weight loss and transformation secret to surprise audiences.
Ngai has previously shared that he has ADHD. He explained that practicing scenes repeatedly helps him perform without memorizing every line. For interviews or important events, he takes prescribed medication to stay focused. He reassured fans that his condition is mild and manageable, and it has not affected his acting career or preparation for this demanding role.
