Rosina Lam’s Husband Jason Mok Faces Indefinite Bankruptcy After High Court Non-Commencement Order

Hong Kong TVB actress Rosina Lam’s husband, Jason Mok, has had his bankruptcy period extended indefinitely. The High Court issued a non-commencement order, meaning his bankruptcy term will not begin until he provides required information about his financial affairs. Mok was first declared bankrupt in April 2025 due to debts exceeding HK$135 million.

Jason Mok Faces Indefinite Bankruptcy After Court Order

Judge Gary Lam granted the trustee in bankruptcy’s request on Monday, stating that Mok has not provided details about his assets, transactions, and other financial matters as required by law. As a result, he remains in a continuing state of bankruptcy. This situation will continue unless Mok supplies the necessary information or the court decides otherwise. Mok did not have legal representation at the hearing, and the Official Receiver did not oppose the order.

The bankruptcy traces back to a HK$100 million loan for which Mok acted as guarantor on behalf of two companies, Double Winner Asia Limited and Forever Concord Limited. The companies had used the loan to purchase a property at 28 Middle Gap Road on The Peak. However, the companies failed to repay lenders, Athora Lux Invest S.C. SP and Apollo Credit Funds ICAV, leading to demands against Mok totaling about HK$135 million, including interest. This led the High Court to make a bankruptcy order in April.

Normally, under Hong Kong’s Bankruptcy Ordinance, a bankrupt person is automatically discharged after four years. However, if the individual does not provide the required information about their business, property, or transactions, the trustee can request a non-commencement order. This order postpones the start of the bankruptcy period, meaning the automatic discharge is delayed indefinitely. Mok’s failure to cooperate has resulted in this indefinite extension.

This case highlights the legal requirements and responsibilities of those declared bankrupt in Hong Kong. Mok’s situation serves as a reminder that compliance with trustees and courts is necessary to resolve financial and legal obligations. Until he provides the required financial information, his bankruptcy will remain ongoing, affecting his ability to manage personal and business affairs freely.
