Ariana Grande and Jonathan Bailey had a scene removed from the new movie Wicked: For Good because it was “too passionate.” The 32-year-old singer and actress played Glinda, while Jonathan played her on-screen love interest Fiyero. They filmed a romantic scene for the movie, but it was not included in the final cut. According to screenwriter Dana Fox, the scene was beautiful but too intense for the story.

Dana Fox explained that the scene showed real feelings between Glinda and Fiyero. She said it made it difficult for viewers to accept Fiyero’s decision to be with Elphaba, another main character. Fox added that the emotions felt too real, which could distract from the main story. She described the scene as romantic and emotional but not fitting with the narrative.
Jonathan Bailey, who returned to the role of Fiyero for the second Wicked movie, shared that he was very emotional during the London premiere. He admitted that he cried while watching the audience, including his niece, enjoy the film. Jonathan said that seeing everyone’s reaction made him feel proud and relieved after three years of hard work on the movie.
The actor also expressed his admiration for the director Jon M. Chu and producer Marc Platt. He explained that while actors are only present for a small part of filmmaking, the team had dedicated over 15 years to the Wicked movies. For Jonathan, the premiere was a significant moment because it celebrated the efforts of the entire cast and crew.

Even though the passionate scene was cut, both Ariana and Jonathan contributed to making the movie memorable. Fans will still see the chemistry between Glinda and Fiyero, but the final film keeps the story focused on the main plot. The decision to remove the scene shows how filmmakers carefully balance romance and storytelling in movies like Wicked: For Good.
