Hollywood actor Jeremy Renner has asked filmmaker Yi Zhou to stop spreading false claims about him. Zhou accused the 54-year-old actor of sending unwanted sexual messages and images in June, and of threatening her with immigration authorities when confronted. However, Jeremy’s team strongly denied these allegations, calling them untrue and misleading.

Renner’s lawyers sent a legal notice to Yi Zhou, asking her to stop making defamatory statements. The letter stated that Zhou had falsely claimed that Jeremy acted inappropriately. The legal team also warned that continued publication of such claims could result in legal action. Jeremy’s representatives called her claims “false, outrageous, and highly defamatory.”
According to Renner’s lawyer, the actor had only met Zhou twice. The first meeting was in July 2025 in a Nevada hotel, where he was interviewed for her documentary, and they shared a brief consensual encounter. They met again in August, but Renner had not spoken to her since, despite receiving multiple messages from her. The legal statement described Zhou’s behavior as harassment and one-sided pursuit.

Yi Zhou, on the other hand, maintains that Jeremy sent her inappropriate photos and forced himself on her during their first meeting. She said he also threatened to involve immigration authorities. Zhou claimed she included him in her projects because she believed they were in a developing romantic relationship. She also referenced the Me Too movement, emphasizing the importance of speaking out against sexual misconduct.
