Former Golden Bachelor couple Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist are back in the headlines after Theresa made some surprising claims about their short-lived marriage. During a recent podcast interview, she revealed that Gerry once made a disturbing comment during their relationship, joking about “chopping her up” and hiding her body. The comment, she said, was made during a walk around Pretty Lake and left her feeling deeply uncomfortable.
Theresa Nist Recalls Gerry Turner’s Disturbing Comment
Theresa explained that although she didn’t believe Gerry was serious, the remark showed “an underlying animosity” she could sense in their relationship. She said, “If it was meant as a joke, it was a very dark one.” The former couple married in January 2024 after meeting on the hit reality dating show The Golden Bachelor, which focuses on older singles looking for love. However, their marriage lasted only three months before they divorced, citing “irreconcilable differences.”
In the same interview, Theresa also responded to Gerry’s recently released memoir titled “Golden Years: What I’ve Learned from Love, Loss, and Reality TV.” She claimed that some of the stories in the book were not true and that his version of events made her “extremely upset.” According to Theresa, Gerry regretted the marriage soon after the wedding and “resented” her for it. She said he should have called off the wedding instead of pretending to make it work for the cameras.
Theresa also admitted she didn’t want to speak publicly about her marriage but felt she had no choice after Gerry shared personal details in his book. “I didn’t want to hurt him or make him look bad,” she said. “But now that he’s written about it, I can’t ignore it.” Despite their differences, she said she doesn’t wish him any harm and hopes both of them can move on peacefully.

Since the divorce, Gerry has spoken openly about his mistakes and how he rushed into marriage too quickly. He has now found love again with Lana Sutton, to whom he got engaged in October 2025. Gerry has also shared that surviving cancer changed his outlook on life, saying he now wants to live fully and appreciate every moment. Meanwhile, Theresa has kept a low profile, focusing on her family and life away from the spotlight.
