Director Anthony Hemingway Defends Kim Kardashian’s Acting in Ryan Murphy’s Hulu Legal Drama All’s Fair

Anthony Hemingway, the director and executive producer of All’s Fair, has spoken out after the new Hulu series starring Kim Kardashian faced heavy criticism from viewers and reviewers. The legal drama, created by Ryan Murphy, features Kardashian as a powerful divorce lawyer leading an all-female law firm. Despite its star-studded cast which includes Naomi Watts, Sarah Paulson, Niecy Nash-Betts, and Glenn Close the show received harsh reviews after its first three episodes premiered.

Director Defends Kim Kardashian’s Role in All’s Fair

Critics have called All’s Fair one of the “worst TV shows of the year,” criticizing the writing and Kardashian’s acting performance. Many described the show as “flat,” “unrealistic,” and “lacking real emotion.” However, in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Hemingway defended the project and asked viewers to keep an open mind. He explained that All’s Fair was never meant to be a traditional courtroom drama, but a mix of comedy, glamour, and fantasy that lets viewers escape from daily life.

Hemingway said working on Ryan Murphy’s productions is like being in an “artist’s playground,” where creativity and imagination are encouraged. He also praised Kim Kardashian for her professionalism and dedication. “She showed up every day prepared, knew her lines, and worked hard,” he said. He added that although Kardashian is new to acting, she took her role seriously and wanted to prove herself. Hemingway described her as “open, humble, and willing to learn,” saying that she brought a fun and positive energy to the set.

The director also compared the situation to other shows that were initially criticized but later gained appreciation. He mentioned The Wire as an example, noting that some TV shows take time to connect with audiences. According to Hemingway, All’s Fair aims to mix serious topics like divorce and betrayal with humor and style, making it different from most legal dramas on television.

Despite the backlash, Hemingway said the entire team, including Kardashian, stands by their work. “Not everything is for everyone,” he said. “Some people may not get it now, but others will.” The first three episodes of All’s Fair are currently streaming on Hulu, with new episodes releasing every Tuesday.
