Selling Sunset star Emma Hernan is speaking out to clear the air about her relationship with Blake Davis and the recent controversy surrounding him. In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Emma, 33, said she’s tired of worrying about others’ opinions and wants to focus on her happiness. She admitted that her romance with Blake caused some tension with her co-star and former friend Chrishell Stause, but added that she had to follow her heart. “Everyone can say what they want, but it’s my choice who I end up with,” Emma said firmly.
Emma Hernan Defends Boyfriend Amid Pronoun Controversy
During Selling Sunset season 9, Chrishell expressed her dislike for Blake, which led to a public falling out between the two women. Before the show aired, Chrishell claimed that Blake had used a racial slur and made insensitive remarks about pronouns on social media. Emma quickly came forward to defend him, saying that the situation had been misunderstood. “He did not say that pronouns were dumb,” Emma explained. “He accidentally said ‘wife’ when talking about Chrishell’s partner, G Flip. It was the first time he was learning about it, and he apologized right away.”
Emma Hernan clarified that the misunderstanding happened two years ago and not recently. She said that Blake didn’t mean any harm and that she corrected him immediately because she wanted to be sensitive to everyone’s feelings. “We’re from the South, and he just wasn’t familiar with certain terms,” she added. Emma also said she understood why Chrishell was protective of G Flip but maintained that Blake never had bad intentions.
Despite the tension, Emma hopes that one day they can all talk things out. “It’s one of those things where they will never see eye to eye,” she admitted. “My ideal situation is for my best friend and my boyfriend to love each other. It was hard being in the middle, but I still care for them both.”

Now, Emma Hernan is focusing on her relationship and looking ahead. She said she would consider moving to the East Coast for Blake but only if he proposes. “He hasn’t yet,” she laughed, “but I’ve shared my whole life this season so fans can see the real me and the real relationship I’m in.” Selling Sunset season 9 is now streaming on Netflix.
