Filmmaker Amar Kaushik recently addressed rumors about whether Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt will be a part of the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe (MHCU) with the upcoming film Chamunda. In an interview with Filmfare, Amar clarified that the script or story of MHCU films is not created based on the cast.
Alia Bhatt May Join Maddock Horror Comedy Universe
When asked directly about Alia Bhatt’s involvement, Amar said, “Everything is on the timeline. I am not denying or accepting anything right now. When it happens, everyone will know.” He emphasized that the team focuses on the story first and then decides the casting. “We don’t write the script or story based on the cast. Thankfully, that does not happen here,” he added.

Amar also spoke about the MHCU’s approach to filmmaking. He stated that the films are made with the audience in mind, aiming to maintain honesty and quality. “The audience can expect the bar will go up with the upcoming films. We are making these for the fans, for the public. If we make a mistake and don’t do it right, please tell us via Instagram or any other platform. Just pray for us. We will try to give you the best,” Amar said. He recalled the success of his first film, Stree, and mentioned that the same honesty and dedication will continue in future MHCU films.

The Maddock Horror Comedy Universe began with Stree and has since produced other inter-connected films such as Stree 2, Bhediya, Munjya, and Thamma. The universe is co-produced by Amar Kaushik and Dinesh Vijan. Upcoming films include Shakti Shalini, featuring Aneet Padda, and Bhediya 2, which will bring back Varun Dhawan in a lead role.
As for Alia Bhatt, she currently has several exciting projects lined up. She will be seen in Alpha, an action thriller set in the YRF Spy Universe, alongside Sharvari Wagh. Additionally, Alia will appear with Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming period romantic drama, Love & War, scheduled to release soon.
