Punjabi folk singer Gurmeet Singh Maan, who was also an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) in the Punjab Police, has passed away due to heart complications. Maan, who had a history of heart problems, died recently, leaving his fans and community in deep mourning. His last rites were performed in his native village, Hardowal, near Fatehgarh Churiya in Gurdaspur district.

Although Gurmeet Singh Maan lived in Gilco Colony, Ropar, he was originally from Hardowal village near Jalandhar. He was an active participant in local Gurudwara events, including the Zinda Shaheed and the 32 KV program in Noorpur Bedi village, Ropar. Many people in these communities admired him not only for his music but also for his humble personality and dedication to his work as a police officer.
Maan’s songs celebrated the traditions and culture of rural Punjab. Through his music, he shared the joys, struggles, and everyday life of ordinary people, using simple language and heartfelt emotions. His songs were popular for their authenticity and relatability, and they resonated with audiences across generations.

He also collaborated with other artists, most notably in duets with Preet Payal, which became very popular among fans. Their songs often focused on love, longing, and the simple pleasures and challenges of village life. Even beyond Punjab, Maan’s music reached Punjabi communities worldwide, earning him fans in both rural villages and international cities.
His death comes shortly after the passing of Punjabi singer and actor Rajvir Jawanda, who died in a road accident at the age of 35. The sudden loss of both artists has left the Punjabi music community in grief.
