Netflix’s new series Black Rabbit has quickly become one of the most talked-about shows of the year. Starring Jude Law and Jason Bateman, the eight-part thriller tells the story of two brothers, Jake and Vince, whose lives are pulled back into chaos when old secrets and dangerous debts return. Both Law and Bateman not only act in the show but also serve as executive producers, making this a very personal project for them.

Jude Law plays Jake Friedkin, the owner of a trendy Brooklyn restaurant named Black Rabbit. On the surface, Jake looks successful and stable, but beneath it all, his business is struggling. His carefully built life takes a dark turn when his older brother Vince (played by Bateman) suddenly returns after years of absence. Vince had left the city to escape from a mobster’s debt, but now he comes back, desperate and looking for help.

As the story unfolds, Vince’s return destroys Jake’s fragile balance. Both brothers are forced to deal with dangerous criminals, painful memories of their childhood with an abusive father, and their complicated love-hate relationship with each other. The tension peaks when Vince is pushed into helping the mobster’s son commit a robbery at Jake’s restaurant. This robbery ends in tragedy, leaving one character dead and Vince making a shocking choice that changes everything.

In the final episodes, Vince admits to Jake that years ago he killed their abusive father to protect their mother. Jake reveals he always knew but chose to forgive him. Soon after, Vince sacrifices himself confessing to his crimes and then taking his own life. For the first time, Jake is left without his brother, feeling both heartbroken and strangely free.
Speaking about the show, Jude Law described it as a story about “what we forgive in those who we are related to.” Bateman added that playing Vince was a chance to explore a deeply flawed but strangely lovable character. Together, they brought raw honesty to the screen, showing how complicated family bonds can be.
