A new legal battle has emerged in the Kapoor family after the passing of businessman Sunjay Kapur. Sunjay, who was once married to actress Karisma Kapoor, left behind a vast fortune reportedly worth ₹30,000 crore. His children Karisma Samaira Kapur (20) and Kiaan Raj Kapur (15) have now approached the Delhi High Court, questioning their stepmother Priya Sachdev’s claim over his wealth.
Karisma Kapoor’s kids contest Priya Sachdev’s claim
Priya Sachdev, who married Sunjay in 2017 after his divorce from Karisma, told the court through her legal team that Samaira and Kiaan had already received ₹1900 crore from the family trust. She questioned why they were seeking more when such a large amount had already been given.

However, the children’s legal team strongly disagreed. They argued that while the assets might be shown under their names, the control of the money and property remains with Priya, leaving the children with no actual access to it.
Another major dispute is around the will presented by Priya. Samaira and Kiaan’s lawyers have claimed that the will is forged and fabricated. They told the court that neither the original document nor a copy has been shared with them. They also argued that the will was created under suspicious circumstances and should not be considered valid.

The Delhi High Court has now directed Priya Sachdev to submit a detailed list of Sunjay Kapur’s movable and immovable assets. The next hearing is scheduled for October 9, 2025. The case is expected to bring more clarity on how Sunjay’s estate will be divided among his heirs.
Sunjay Kapur married Karisma Kapoor in 2003. The couple had two children but divorced in 2016 after a long and bitter legal fight. In 2017, Sunjay married Priya Sachdev. He passed away in June 2025 in London reportedly due to a heart attack. Apart from his family life, Sunjay was also known as the chairman and founder of Sona Comstar, a major automobile company.
This ongoing inheritance battle highlights the complexities of dividing large family estates, especially when questions of access, control, and authenticity of wills are involved.
