Anupam Mittal, founder of Shaadi.com and popular judge on Shark Tank India, has created a buzz on social media with his recent travel choice. Instead of spending ₹10 lakh on a luxury vacation in Switzerland, he opted for a family trip to Kashmir that cost him around ₹2 lakh. Sharing his experience online, he described Kashmir as “priceless” and encouraged Indians to explore the beauty of their own country.
Anupam Mittal Calls Kashmir Priceless Over Switzerland
In his posts on X (formerly Twitter) and LinkedIn, Mittal uploaded pictures of shikara rides with his wife, Anchal Kumar, and daughter, Alyssa, along with breathtaking views of the Kashmir Valley. He wrote: “Luxury trip to Switzerland – 10 lacs. Similar trip to Kashmir – 2 lacs. Infinite beauty in your own country – priceless.”

Anupam Mittal explained that while Switzerland offers perfection and modern infrastructure, it cannot match the raw, rustic charm of Kashmir. He added that Kashmir is nearly 80% cheaper and equally, if not more, beautiful.
His post quickly went viral, with people sharing mixed reactions. Many agreed with him, praising Kashmir’s stunning mountains, lakes, and culture. Some users even shared their own positive travel experiences from Kashmir, calling it one of the most magical places in India. A few others suggested he should also visit other unexplored destinations in the Northeast, such as Shillong and Mizoram.

However, not everyone agreed with his comparison. Some people pointed out that Switzerland’s attractions go beyond snow-covered mountains; it also has world-class infrastructure, activities for families, and highly organised tourism services. Others raised concerns about safety in Kashmir.
Responding to security concerns, Anupam Mittal said that he was offered official protection but refused it, choosing instead to travel freely with his family. He insisted that Kashmir is safe for tourists and argued that avoiding it only helps those who want to spread fear. “Fear mongering is easy,” he wrote, urging people to support the region by visiting and boosting local tourism.
