Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil recently shared an interesting story about how he once declined a chance to work with world-famous filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu, the Oscar-winning director of The Revenant, Birdman and Amores Perros.
Fahadh Faasil Rejects Hollywood Offer From Iñárritu
In an interview during the promotion of his latest film Oduṁ Kuthira Chadum Kuthira, Fahadh Faasil said that Iñárritu had contacted him through a video call for a Hollywood project. The director liked his talent but was concerned about Fahadh’s natural accent. He suggested that Fahadh should stay in the United States for about four months to work on changing his accent. However, there would be no payment during this training period.
Fahadh Faasil explained that this condition made him turn down the opportunity. “What didn’t work for him was my accent. To fix that, I would have had to stay in the US without payment. That’s why I let go of it,” he said.
The actor, who is also part of the much-awaited Pushpa 2, added that he does not regret his decision. Fahadh believes that all the important and magical moments in his life have happened in Malayalam cinema, and he wishes to continue his journey there. “If any change is to happen, I want it to happen here itself. I don’t feel the need to go outside Kerala in search of that magic,” he said.
