Filmmaker James Gunn has shared an exciting update about the next Superman movie. Gunn, who directed the 2025 film starring David Corenswet as the Man of Steel, revealed that he has already finished writing a detailed treatment for the sequel. He explained that his treatments are not short summaries but long documents of about 60 pages that even include dialogue.

Now that the treatment is complete, Gunn and his team are preparing the full script and planning the shooting schedule. “We’re scheduling it now. It’s going to be much sooner rather than later,” Gunn said in a recent interview with Collider. This means fans will not have to wait too long before Superman returns to the big screen.
The sequel is expected to continue Corenswet’s journey as Superman, though Gunn has not yet confirmed whether it will be a direct continuation of the 2025 film or a new story within the DC Universe. Still, the news has excited fans who were waiting for clarity on the future of Superman under Gunn’s leadership.

Apart from Superman, Gunn and his team at DC Studios are also working on many other projects. These include Peacemaker Season 2, a new Supergirl film, the Lanterns TV series, a new Wonder Woman story, and a horror-inspired Clayface movie. Gunn explained that each project will have its own unique style, just like comic books. For example, while Superman is a hopeful and heroic story, Clayface will be more like a horror film.

Gunn has often spoken about his vision for the DC Universe. He does not want every movie to look or feel the same. Instead, he wants different directors and writers to bring their own creativity to the characters. “We don’t want people being bored,” he said.
