Bollywood actor Aamir Khan recently apologized for not telling the truth about the release of his film Sitaare Zameen Par. Earlier, Aamir had said the movie would not be released on YouTube. However, he later admitted that this was not true. He said he lied to protect the movie’s performance in theatres.

At a press event, Aamir said, “I fold my hands and say sorry. I had no choice but to lie. I wanted the movie to do well in cinemas.” He explained that he is very loyal to theatres because that’s where his journey as an actor began. “If I had told the truth, the dream I had for this film would have ended early,” he added.

Aamir Khan also shared his thoughts on how movies should be released after they finish showing in theatres. He is not in support of putting films directly on OTT platforms through subscription services. He believes this model doesn’t help the film industry grow.
Instead, Aamir Khan supports the pay-per-view system. He said, “When I release a movie on a subscription platform, people are not buying my film. They are just paying for the whole platform. I don’t want a big check from a company. I want each person to pay a small amount to watch my film.”

He feels that this method shows real love and support from the audience. He wants to create a stronger connection between films and the people watching them.
Sitaare Zameen Par was released in theatres on June 20, 2025. It will now be available on YouTube starting August 1, 2025, for ₹100.
