Andy Byron, the CEO of the tech company Astronomer, has officially resigned following a viral incident at a Coldplay concert. The video clip, which spread quickly on social media, showed Byron and Kristin Cabot, the company’s HR head, cuddling on the ‘kiss cam’. The incident raised eyebrows because both Byron and Cabot are married to other people. Their behavior led to online speculation about a possible affair.

Following the public attention, Astronomer announced that Byron had stepped down from his role. In an official statement on LinkedIn, the company said, “Our leaders are expected to meet the highest standards of conduct and accountability. Recently, that standard was not met.”

Pete DeJoy, co-founder and Chief Product Officer, has taken over as the interim CEO. Interestingly, DeJoy reacted subtly to the Coldplay incident by liking a LinkedIn post made by former employee Zachary Hensley. In the post, Hensley admitted, “Yes, I’ve laughed at the memes,” but he also added that Astronomers are more than just one mistake or one person.
Zachary Hensley, who worked as Vice President of Technology and Operations at Astronomer until 2024, said he had mixed emotions about the whole situation. However, he praised the team at Astronomer and encouraged them to continue their good work.

Hensley also congratulated Pete DeJoy and showed his support by writing, “Pete DeJoy is amazing. I’m so excited for him. Love you, Petey.”
The original video from the Coldplay concert showed Byron and Cabot hiding their faces when the camera focused on them. Even Coldplay’s lead singer, Chris Martin, joked about it on stage, saying, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.” The company has not confirmed if Cabot will remain in her role.
