Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur’s ‘Son of Sardaar 2’ Postponed, New Release Date Announced

The much-awaited comedy film Son of Sardaar 2, starring Ajay Devgn, Mrunal Thakur, and Vindu Dara Singh, has been delayed by a week. The film, which was earlier scheduled to release on July 25, 2025, will now hit theatres worldwide on August 1, 2025.

The announcement was made by the makers on the official Instagram handle of Jio Studios. They shared a new poster and wrote, “The Laughter Riot Just Got A New Date.” Fans of Ajay Devgn, who were eagerly waiting for the sequel, now have to wait a little longer.

Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, Son of Sardaar 2 is the sequel to the 2012 hit film Son of Sardaar. The first film, directed by Ashwni Dhir, featured Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, and the late Mukul Dev. It told the story of Jaswinder “Jassi” Singh Randhawa, a man who returns from London to Punjab to sell his family property but ends up caught in a family feud.

Son of Sardaar was a commercial success and grossed over Rs. 161.48 crore worldwide. The sequel promises to continue the same mix of comedy, action, and emotional drama but this time with a fresh storyline set in Scotland.

The film is produced by Ajay Devgn along with Jyoti Deshpande, N R Pachisia, and Pravin Talreja. It is backed by Jio Studios, which has been behind several major releases in recent times.
