Rhea Chakraborty recently opened up about the difficult time she and her brother Showik faced after the tragic death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput in 2020. In an interview with CNBC TV18, she shared how their lives changed completely after they were linked to the case. Rhea had been accused of abetment to suicide, and both she and her brother were arrested in a drug-related investigation connected to Sushant’s death. These events brought their careers to a sudden stop.
Rhea Chakraborty, Showik Faced Setbacks After SSR Case
Rhea revealed that she stopped getting acting offers, and her brother, who had plans to pursue an MBA after scoring 96 percentile in the CAT exam, lost his opportunity. Showik was arrested before he could start his studies at a well-known university, and by the time he came out, he had missed the first trimester, along with his future academic and career plans.

She also spoke about how it became extremely difficult for Showik to get a job in the corporate world. Because of the intense media attention and negative publicity, most companies did not want to hire someone whose name had been in the headlines for the wrong reasons. This left both of them confused and uncertain about what to do next.
During that hard time, the siblings chose to focus on something positive and started a clothing brand called Chapter 2 Drip. This brand was created to give people a voice and to help them feel seen and understood.

In 2024, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a closure report, clearing both Rhea and Showik of all charges. Since then, they have been trying to rebuild their lives. Rhea made a comeback in the entertainment industry by joining MTV Roadies as a gang leader, even winning a season.
