He explained how he and his wife chose a different middle name for her, breaking away from old traditions. In India, it is common for a child to carry their father’s name as part of their full name. Later in life, many women take their husband’s name. But Anupam and his wife wanted something different for their daughter.

They named her Alyssa Anantara. The word “Anantara” means limitless and is also a name for the goddess Saraswati, who represents wisdom. Anupam said they picked this name because they want their daughter to grow up as an independent person. They want her to be known for who she is, not just as someone’s daughter, wife, or mother.
