Randeep Hooda, a well-known actor, has recently spoken about a time in his career that left him feeling excluded. He recalled the promotions for the 2014 film Highway, where he played a significant role as a villain. Despite his importance to the film, Randeep noticed that he was left out of the promotional activities, while Ranbir Kapoor, who wasn’t even part of the film, was involved in promoting it.
Randeep Hooda Reflects on Highway Promotions
During a conversation with Shubhankar Mishra on a YouTube podcast, Randeep Hooda admitted that the situation puzzled him. He said he didn’t understand why Ranbir, who wasn’t a part of the film, was taking part in the promotions. He even wondered how Ranbir was connected to the film at all. Randeep reflected on how being part of those promotions could have helped him gain more visibility, especially at a time when his career could have benefited from the extra attention.

However, Randeep Hooda chose to take a mature approach to the situation. He joked that maybe Ranbir’s involvement in the film’s promotions marked the beginning of his romance with Alia Bhatt, his now-wife. He added that if that moment brought them together, he was happy for them and wished them all the best. Despite the initial confusion, Randeep understood that it might have been part of the promotional strategy, particularly since Highway focused on the theme of female empowerment, with Alia Bhatt playing the central role. He thought that the film’s success might not have been the same without his character.
Randeep Hooda also mentioned that during the final days of the film’s promotion, when it wasn’t gaining as much traction, the team might have decided to involve him. He felt that their strategy from the start was to focus on Alia, who was a key part of the story. Nevertheless, Randeep expressed that his role was still important to the film’s success, and without his character, the story wouldn’t have had the same impact.
