Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding on July 12, 2024, was a grand and high-profile event held at the luxurious Jio World Centre in Mumbai. The celebrations included many famous guests from Bollywood and beyond. However, the joyous occasion faced a security scare due to a suspicious post on social media.

Suspicious Social Media Post
A warning of a bomb by a user on social media site X formerly known as twitter was observed regarding the wedding. In its terror analysis blog – Terror Watch – The Economic Times had posted this: “A shameless thought crept into my mind that if a bomb went off at Ambani’s wedding, half the world would turn upside down Trillions of dollars in one pin code. ” It did not take the Mumbai Police long to sit up and take note.
Police Response
Crimes related to the content of the post were reported to the Mumbai Police on July 13. If the police thought it was a prank, they also thought that the situation was dangerous, and launched an investigation against the man behind the Twitter’s @FFSFIR. Police still aim at knowing the person behind the post and the motive behind it. Up to this point, there is no formal complaint lodged that is known as the First Information Report (FIR) but the investigation continues.
Increased Security Measures
The police, though considering it more of a joke, escalated protection on the venue of the wedding. They decided to put more guards for the security of guests on their premises in order to minimize incidents that may result in the compromise of visitors’ security. A police officer said, “It has been seen as a prank, but the police team that monitors social media will for sure consider it. ” They pointed out that more caution has to be taken in such cases.

There were many well known stars in the wedding, many celebrities graced the occasion by their presence. Many celebrities have come to inaugurate the TAM Beauty Con 2021 including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra Nick Jonas, Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Janhvi Kapoor, Ananya Pandey, Katrina Kaif, Vicky Kaushal and an international celebrity John Cena. Due to the presence of these special guests, the security issues were much more pressing.

The wedding was followed by a special blessing ceremony called Shubh Aashirwad on July 13, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The celebrations concluded with a grand reception on July 14. Despite the security scare, the events went smoothly, and the guests enjoyed the festivities.
