Alicia Keys, already a 16-time Grammy winner, is both the composer and lyricist of the songs in the album. The album was produced by Keys, Adam Blackstone, and Tom Kitt. Along with the Grammy, Keys was also honored with the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award at the event.

The show “Hell’s Kitchen,” which opened on Broadway in 2024 after an Off-Broadway run at the Public Theater, tells the story of a 17-year-old girl named Ali, who is raised by a single mother in an apartment building for artists. The musical explores Ali’s journey as she navigates romance and music, much like Alicia Keys did in her own life.
